Mobile phones started being widely used, through the 1980s. These mobile phones, more commonly termed cellular phones, function based on cellular networks with base stations located close to each other. The first commercially available mobile phone was the Motoral DynaTAC 8000X. The early models of mobile phones where all big in size, and were all initially designed for use, permanently, in vehicles.
